Pumpkin Composting

When not disposed of correctly, pumpkins can release harmful methane gas into the atmosphere as they decompose. Composting pumpkins promotes more sustainable waste management solutions.

Drop off your unpainted, undecorated pumpkins and gourds Nov. 1–25 in the east parking lot of the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. They’ll be turned into nutrient-rich compost and kept out of the landfill.
