Trash Haulers

Residential trash removal and recycling services are provided by private companies in Overland Park.

Requirements for Haulers

Each company has its own prices and policies, but trash haulers in Overland Park are required to have permits and provide:

  • Standard trash removal services,
  • Curbside recycling of recyclable household waste excluding glass,
  • Yard waste removal, including grass clippings, leaves, and small tree trimming debris. Yard waste must be bundled in lawn bags, plastic bags will not be picked up. Haulers collect yard waste at least 40 weeks per year.

Requirements for Residents

Trash containers must be hidden from view of the street and neighboring properties. Containers must be placed on the side of the house or in an enclosed structure.

Trash, recycling, and yard waste should be placed at the curb, not in the street or on the sidewalk, the morning of collection day.
