Kindergarten Barnyard Builders

This exciting kindergarten program explores how animals and humans change their environments to meet their needs. Children will discover how humans transform the landscape by planting crops, building fences and creating safe spaces for farm animals. They will also experience many animals that build nests, dig burrows and eliminate competition to obtain food and shelter. Through hands-on activities and creative play, children will understand how both animals and humans interact and shape the environment around them.

K-ESS2-2. Construct an argument supported by evidence for how plants and animals (including humans) can change the environment to meet their needs.

First Grade 1900s Farm + Town

This program takes first grade students on a journey back in time to explore the rights and responsibilities of citizens in a 1900s Kansas town. Students will learn about the importance of community, the responsibilities of citizens and the rights they were afforded. By comparing life in 1900s Kansas to their own lives today, students will gain a deeper understanding of citizenship and the importance of contributing to their community.

First Grade Hooved, Horned and Hairy

In this exciting program, students will embark on a journey of discovery about farm animals and their amazing adaptations. They’ll learn how animals like goats, chickens and ponies use their unique features to thrive on the farm. Through engaging activities, students will become animal engineers, designing solutions to human problems by mimicking the clever adaptations they observe in farm animals. This hands-on experience will foster creativity, critical thinking and an appreciation for animals across the barnyard.

1-LS1-1. Use materials to design a solution to a human problem by mimicking how plants and/or animals use their external parts to help them survive, grow, and meet their needs.

Second Grade Dirty Jobs: Pollinators at Play

This exciting program delves into the fascinating world of plant pollination and seed dispersal. Students will learn about the vital roles of pollinators like bees and butterflies and explore the incredible journeys as seeds flip, float and fly their way to new homes. Through interactive games and engaging activities, students will become nature’s helpers, mimicking the actions of pollinators and seed dispersers firsthand.

2-LS2-2. Develop a simple model that mimics the function of an animal in dispersing seeds or pollinating plants.

Second Grade Westward Expansion

With the arrival of the telephone and railroads transforming the landscape, Kansas in 1900 was a time of exciting change. This program invites students to step back in time and experience the everyday life of a rural Kansas town. Through interactive activities and engaging exhibits, students will discover what it was like to live, work and play in a bygone era. By comparing their experiences to life today, students will gain a valuable perspective on the past and a deeper appreciation for the present.
