Public Works Department

Overland Park’s Public Works Department provides safe and timely street, traffic and stormwater services.

The American Public Works Association recognizes the City’s Public Works Department as a nationally-accredited organization that follows industry best practices. Whether filling a pothole, repairing a streetlight, monitoring traffic flow, inspecting a construction project or driving a snow plow, we take our mission of providing beneficial, efficient and timely services seriously.

Divisions

Public Works operates four divisions in several locations across the city.

Administration + Engineering Division

Public Works administration directs and coordinates work areas, provides leadership to fulfill department objectives, and provides training to department staff.

The engineering division is responsible for planning, designing and managing infrastructure construction and for the major maintenance of streets, bridges, and storm sewer systems.
