Marty Park is temporarily closed, but exciting changes are on the way!
The City decommissioned Marty Pool at the end of the 2022 outdoor pool season. Following the closure of Marty Pool, the City began the process of redesigning Marty Park in its place. The City reconstructed Fire Station 41 near Marty Park, located at the original Marty Pool site.
Parks and Recreation staff are reviewing construction documents after meeting with the community and the neighborhood homeowners association to discuss desired park features. Next, the City will issue a bid and select a contractor, a process requiring approval from the City’s Governing Body. Construction is expected to begin in mid-fall 2025.
This page will be updated as the project progresses, so check back for the latest updates on the transformation.

A steering committee met regularly at the beginning of the design process to guide the project. Overland Park Parks and Recreation staff invited neighbors and residents to share their ideas and help shape the vision for the park at four open house events.
Community members explored design concepts, voted on their favorite amenities and discussed park features with staff, providing valuable input to guide the park’s design. Families played an important role! Kids joined in on park-themed activities and voted on their favorite play features, ensuring the new park will be a space everyone can enjoy.
Together, we’re creating a space where neighbors can play, relax and connect for years to come.
