Pedal Power: Celebrate National Bike to Work Week in OP

Get ready to pedal! Celebrate National Bike to Work Week May 13-17.

With over 120 miles of bike lanes and numerous bike trails crisscrossing the City, Overland Park’s cycling infrastructure provides a safe two-wheel journey to work for residents.

Swing by the City’s breakfast stops when you switch up your commute. From 6:30-8 a.m. each day, City staff will be serving up breakfast bars, fruit, coffee, and juice at various locations throughout the week:

  • Monday, May 13 – REI (Southeast corner of W 135th St and Lamar Ave.)
  • Tuesday, May 14 – Tomahawk Ridge Community Center (11902 Lowell Ave)
  • Wednesday, May 15 – Corporate Woods Park by the Eilert Fountain (109th & Indian Creek Parkway)
  • Thursday, May 16 – Northeast corner of W 91st Street and Metcalf Avenue
  • Friday, May 17 – East side of City Hall (8500 Santa Fe Dr.)

No bike? No problem! Ride KC offers a bikeshare program with spots across Johnson County, while Lime electric scooters and e-bikes are available to rent in Overland Park. Opt for an e-bike for an extra push or stick with the traditional ride for a timeless journey.

The League of American Bicyclists has championed National Bike Month since 1956 to celebrate and promote cycling for both leisure and transport. Discover more about National Bike Month and explore Overland Park’s bike trails and lanes at
