Outdoor pool season starts Sunday; Bluejacket Pool to remain closed

June 1, 2023 Update: Bluejacket Pool opens June 2

Three of Overland Park’s outdoor pools open for the season on May 28.

Stonegate Pool, 9701 Antioch Rd., Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center, 11950 Lowell Ave. and Young’s Pool, 8421 W. 77th St., open Sunday, May 28. Pools will be open 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Bluejacket Pool to remain closed

Unfortunately, Bluejacket Pool, 10101 Bond St., will not open on Sunday.

City staff discovered a significant water leak while preparing the pool for opening day. The pool is currently losing up to 3,5000 gallons of water per hour. Further investigation of the source of the leak is required before the pool can safely open. This step is crucial to determine the extent of the damage and ensure the pool can operate safely.

Please keep an eye out for an update on the leak at Bluejacket during the week of June 5.

Swimming lessons, memberships available

For those still earning their fins, the City offers swim lessons for all ages and abilities. People with disabilities and their families can enjoy City pools before they are open to the public during Saturday Swim events at Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center.

Pool memberships for the 2023 season are available to purchase at Matt Ross Community Center and Tomahawk Ridge Community Center. City of Overland Park outdoor pool memberships provide guests access to all outdoor City pools. Daily admission passes will also be available during the 2023 season.

In light of the news about Bluejacket, anyone who has purchased swim lessons or a pool membership is eligible for a full refund.

Late summer pool plans

The last day of operation for Stonegate Pool and Young’s Pool is August 8, and Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center will continue to operate through September 4. For more information on the City’s outdoor pools, swim lessons, memberships, and more, please visit opkansas.org/pools.
