New household hazardous waste facility opens in OP

Clear household clutter and protect our planet by properly disposing of household hazardous waste at the new Johnson County Household Waste Collection and Reuse Facility located at 11231 Mastin St. in Overland Park.

Operating from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the facility allows for the safe disposal of unwanted paint, household chemicals, yard waste and more. Appointments are required. You can schedule them online, or call 913-715-6907.

Improper disposal of household hazardous waste can cause environmental issues and may present health hazards. Household hazardous waste includes:

  • Paint
  • Oil
  • Compact fluorescent light bulbs
  • Gasoline
  • Stains
  • Solvents
  • Insecticides

In addition to hazardous waste drop-off, paint will also be available for purchase through the re-blended paint program.
