Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. It’s a tribute to the contributions that laborers made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of the country.
As you spend time with family and friends over the extended weekend and the unofficial end of summer, please plan around closures and modified hours at City facilities on Monday, September 1:

- Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty St. (8 a.m.-2 p.m.)
(Child Watch closed Sept. 1) - Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, 11902 Lowell Ave. (8 a.m.-2 p.m.)

- Sanders Justice Center, 12300 Foster St.
- Recycling Center, 11921 Hardy (Closed Aug. 30-Sept. 1)
- Child Watch at Matt Ross Community Center
Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead and the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens will operate normal business hours. Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center is open noon-7 p.m. Labor Day Weekend, then closes for the season at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1.
While City offices are closed, residents can access information and services, pay fees or report issues using the City’s online platforms.
