Independent Citizen Advisory Board for Racial Profiling and Non-Biased Policing

The Independent Citizen Advisory Board for Racial Profiling and Non-Biased Policing advises and assists in policy development, education and community outreach and communications related to racial profiling and other non-biased policing efforts of the Overland Park Police Department.

The board reviews complaints regarding race, ethnicity, national origin, gender or religion. Kansas state statute does not consider actions to be racial or other biased-based policing when race, ethnicity, national origin, gender or religion is used in combination with other identifying factors as part of a specific individual description to initiate an enforcement action.

All Independent Citizen Advisory Board for Racial Profiling and Non-Biased Policing meetings are open to the public.

During meetings, the board may recess into executive session to hear details of each investigation. The board will return to open session to announce its findings.
