Swim Lessons

Register for swim lessons online and in person at Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty. You can also register at the outdoor pools when they’re open for the season.

Parents and spectators must remain in the designated pool area during swim lessons unless authorized by the swimming lesson coordinator. Only community center staff may provide personal swim lessons. For more information, please check with the pool staff.

Winter 2026 Swimming Lessons

Winter swim lessons go on sale Monday, November 3 at 8 a.m.

New Options for Winter 2026

  • Eight-week-long swim lessons – once a week, infant, toddler and beginner preschool classes, Jan. 7-Feb. 28.
  • Teen and adult swim lessons for ages 16+ on Saturday mornings.
  • Swim Team Conditioning – Stroke and endurance for ages 14-18, Sunday-Tuesday.

Swim Lesson Level Selector

Use the age of the swimmer and swimming ability to determine the appropriate class.

What class are you ready for?

 

Infant

Ages: 6 months – 2 years

I am new to swim lessons, and I am not yet comfortable with the water or an instructor.

Toddler

Ages: 2 years – 3 years

I am new to swim lessons, and I am not yet comfortable with the water or an instructor.

Preschool Beginner

Ages: 2 years – 5 years

I am new to swim lessons and am comfortable with the water and an instructor.

Preschool Advanced

Ages: 2 years – 5 years

I can go underwater, kick and float on my front and back and swim front crawl.

Stations 1 + 2 (Beginner)

Ages: 5 years – 15 years

I am new to swim lessons and am comfortable with an instructor.

Stations 3 + 4 (Beginner)

Ages: 5 years – 15 years

I can go underwater and float on my front and back.

Stations 5 + 6 (Intermediate)

Ages: 5 years – 15 years

I can kick on my front and back and swim front crawl, but I don’t know how to take a breath yet.

Stations 7 + 8 (Intermediate/Advanced)

Ages: 5 years – 15 years

I can swim front crawl, and I know how to breathe while doing so. I can swim at least 25 yards.

Stations 9 + 10 (Advanced)

Ages: 5 years – 15 years

I can swim freestyle, backstroke and butterfly, and I can swim at least 100 yards.

Stroke Endurance (Advanced)

Ages: 5 years – 15 years

I want to swim for fitness and/or condition for swim team. I am able to swim freestyle at least 100 years and breathe on both sides. I can also swim backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly for at least 30 yards.

Adult Beginner

Ages: 16+

I am new to swimming.

OR

I am comfortable in the water and can swim some.

Adult Advanced

Ages: 16+

I have passed the beginner class.

OR

I want to improve on my current swimming skills.
