Unwrap these home security tips this holiday season

Whether you’re headed out of town or staying home for the holidays, follow these tips to be sure the Grinch doesn’t steal your holiday cheer.

  • Make your house look occupied. Smart bulbs or outlets, lights on timers and a car parked in the driveway will make others think someone’s home.
  • Consider investing in a smart camera for your front door or inside your home.
  • Remove the garage door opener and anything valuable from your car.
  • Let a trusted neighbor know your travel plans. If you have a pet or house sitter, let your neighbor know. If they see anything suspicious, have the neighbor call 911.
  • Ask a neighbor or relative to place your trash cans out by the curb, and then bring them back to your house on trash day.
  • Lock all windows and doors, including storm doors. Consider putting locks on gates.
