OPPD to host National Night Out August 1

Celebrate community and camaraderie alongside Overland Park Police Department officers at this year’s National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1 from 5-7 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy hot dogs, snacks and refreshments while connecting with your neighbors and local law enforcement.

National Night Out will occur simultaneously at two locations:

Sapling Grove Park, 8210 Grant St.
Windham Hill Park, 12950 Melrose St.

School supplies collected at the Overland Park Police Department’s Back2School Supply Drive events will be available at National Night Out for Shawnee Mission and Blue Valley elementary students on a first come, first served basis. Children must be present to receive supplies.

“Engaging with the community we serve is extremely important to the Overland Park Police Department,” shared Police Chief Frank Donchez. “This event is a great opportunity for officers to connect with families and get students excited for the upcoming school year.”

This event is a partnership between the Overland Park Police Department, Johnson County NAACP and local Target stores.
