Fill your schedule with exciting events happening in Overland Park! From family fun and creative workshops to Governing Body and committee meetings, the City’s event calendar is packed with endless opportunities to get involved in your community and make memories with friends and family:

Farmers’ Markets – 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Spend Saturday and Wednesday mornings browsing aisles of fresh produce, meats, cheeses and specialty products at the Overland Park Farmers’ Market. The Farmers’ Market operates from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Art at the Center

Join us for an exhibit featuring moments of artistic inspiration by the African American Artists Collective – Kansas City (AAAC-KC). View this gallery now through July 30 any time Tomahawk Ridge Community Center is open.

Thursday, July 20
Biergarten Thursday – 6 p.m.

Enjoy samplings of brews and appetizers at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens at Biergarten Thursdays beginning at 6 p.m. July 20 will feature POG Brewing Company, KC Bier Co. and Pretzel Boys KC. Register online for $40 per person.

Saturday, July 22
Saturday Swim – 9 a.m.

Join us for Saturday Swim from 9-11 a.m. at Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center. People with disabilities and their families can enjoy the Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center before the pool opens to the public. Lifeguards are on duty, and staff will be in the water to assist with swimmers’ needs and to provide support. Admission to Saturday Swim is $8. One caretaker is admitted with each swimmer, free of charge.

Monday, July 24
Independent Citizen Advisory Board for Racial Profiling and Non-Biased Policing – 6:30 p.m.

The Independent Citizen Advisory Board for Racial Profiling and Non-Biased Policing advises and assists in policy development, education and community outreach and communications related to racial profiling and other non-biased policing efforts of the Overland Park Police Department.The Board meets quarterly at Sanders Justice Center. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. and are open to the public. 

Tuesday, July 25
Goat Yoga
– 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Roll out your yoga mat with furry friends for goat yoga at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Certified fitness instructors guide 45 minutes of yoga instruction followed by 15 minutes of goat socialization and photo opportunities. Register online in advance for $30 per person.

Parks + Recreation Advisory Council – 6:30 p.m.

This Parks & Recreation Advisory Council advises and makes recommendations to the Governing Body and staff on residential parks and recreational needs and wants. They meet the last Tuesday of every month at City Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 26
Public Works Committee – 7 p.m.

Public Works Committee meetings are held every fourth Wednesday of every month at City Hall in Conference Room 1 at 7 p.m.

Thursday, July 27
Nature Storytime – 10 a.m.

Children ages 1-6 are invited to join Stepping Stones KC for music, movement and adventures outdoors at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens at 10 a.m. Participants must have a parent or guardian present. 

Mental Health Advisory Committee – 6 p.m.

The Mental Health Advisory Committee advises the Public Safety Committee and City Council on issues of mental health in the community and conducts periodic meetings with the Public Safety Committee for the purpose of evaluating opportunities to improve communication and transparency. The committee will meet on July 27 at Sanders Justice Center at 6 p.m.

Friday, July 28
Monoprinting in Nature – 10 a.m.

With nature as inspiration, children ages 5-8 will be led through basic monoprinting techniques beginning at 10 a.m. Children will take home their beautiful creations at the end of the class. Register online for $10 per participant. We recommend children wear an overshirt to prevent staining clothes.

Saturday, July 29
Georgia’s Chicken Run – 7 a.m.

Lace up your shoes for the annual Georgia’s Chicken Fun Run/Walk at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead on Saturday, July 29. Check-in begins at 7 a.m. and races start at 8 a.m. Chicken trophies will be awarded to the top three runners in each category.

All About Hummingbirds – 10 a.m.

If you are interested in learning more about hummingbirds and have no previous experience, or if you are an experienced birder who wants to tune up your hummingbird skills, join Colleen Winter from Wild Birds Unlimited at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens at 10 a.m. Register in advance for $5 per person. 

Stained Glass for Beginners – 1 p.m.

Learn stained glass techniques with lead-free solder and flux while creating a beautiful butterfly hanging. This workshop begins at 1 p.m. at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. Register online in advance.

Electronics Recycling Event – 9 a.m.-noon

Rid your home of unwanted and unusable electronics at the City’s Electronics Recycling Event this weekend. Join us Saturday, July 29, at Indian Woods Middle School, 9700 Woodson Drive, between 9 a.m. and noon. Recycle items not collected by routine curbside recycling that may otherwise end up in a landfill.
