Get ready for fun in the sun; Splash pads open for the season May 1

As the weather warms up, cool down at one of Overland Park’s splash pads. Open during normal park hours, splash pads are free to use and will remain open through Sept. 30.

Three City parks feature splash pads:

1. Thompson Park, 8045 Santa Fe Drive

The Thompson Park splash pad sits in the center of Thompson park in the heart of  Downtown OP. Activate the splash pad using a button on a nearby pole.

This park also features a playground with a crawl tunnel, climbing structure, spinner, swings and musical instruments.

2. Roe Park, 10400 Roe Avenue

The Roe Park splash pad sits on the former Roe Pool site. Several fountains and spray features can be activated by pressing or stepping on large buttons on the ground.

This park also features amenities and spaces to keep the whole family active, including several fields, lighted tennis courts, a large playground and connection to the bike and hike trails.

3. Sapling Grove Park, 8210 Grant Street

Renovated in 2017, Sapling Grove Park features a splash pad activated by placing a bare hand on a nearby podium.

This 20-acre neighborhood park is located next door to Comanche Elementary school and nearby neighborhoods and offers many amenities that make it a great place to visit or gather.
