Celebrating spooky season in OP

Spooky season is here, and Overland Park has plenty of fall festivities to help you celebrate! From pumpkin picking to outdoor movies and trunk-or-treating, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Pumpkin Hollow | Daily through Oct. 26

Climb aboard a horse-drawn hayride and explore Pumpkin Hollow. Open through Oct. 26, this family favorite includes lawn games, pumpkin picking and plenty of fall fun. Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fall Movie Night at the Arboretum | Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m.

We put a spell on you, and now you’ll head to the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens to watch “Hocus Pocus” under the stars! Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Bring your blanket or chair, enjoy food and drinks, play yard games, shop the gift store and test your knowledge with movie trivia before the film begins at 6:30 p.m. 

Movie Night in Thompson Park | Oct. 11 from 7-10 p.m.

Head to Thompson Park for a wicked good time on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. Bring the family and friends and pack the popcorn for a free Movie Night in Thompson Park, featuring “Wicked.”

Night of the Living Farm | Oct. 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 5:30 p.m.

Suit up in your favorite costume and step inside the Farmstead after dark for a spooktacular evening of Halloween fun. Activities include carnival games, duck races, hayrides, marshmallow roasts, line dancing in the Dairy Barn and more, beginning at 5:30 p.m. 

Night at the Arboretum | Oct. 21 at 5 p.m.

Grab your flashlight and roam the Arboretum’s trails after dark, starting at 5 p.m. This special evening offers a chance to stargaze and see the spookier side of the Arboretum. Glow hikes at 5 and 6:30 p.m. are included with admission. We’ll provide glowing accessories to light up your night, or bring your own! Admission is free with regular Arboretum entry.

Trick or Treat in Downtown OP | Oct. 25 from 1-3 p.m.

Dress up in your favorite costume and head to Downtown Overland Park for an afternoon of trick-or-treating. Visit participating shops for treats and kid-friendly music at Thompson Park during this free event!

Trunk or Treat with OPPD | Oct. 25 from 3-5 p.m.

Round out the Halloween festivities with a free, safe and family-friendly trick-or-treat event at Overland Park City Hall! From 3-5 p.m., children can collect candy trunk-to-trunk and meet officers from the Overland Park Police Department.
