A reminder to slow down for safety

Drivers may notice new reminders to ease off the gas around Overland Park.

The City recently added 33 driver feedback signs along neighborhood and collector streets with documented speeding concerns. These new installations build on existing signs already in place on corridors like 91st Street, 133rd Street and Lamar Avenue.

Each sign uses a digital display to show drivers how fast they’re going alongside the posted speed limit, giving a clear warning when their speed exceeds the limit.

Public Works crews placed the signs on two-lane streets across the city, using factors like documented speed data, traffic volumes and roadway type to guide their decisions.

The City used federal funds to cover the majority of the project cost.
