Join us for the Bietigheim-Bissingen Park Dedication on Monday, September 29, at 4 p.m. at 159th and Quivira, celebrating a new chapter of international friendship and local pride!
Inspired by Overland Park’s sister city in Germany, Bietigheim-Bissingen Park is a cultural connection brought to life. Designed with nods to German architecture, gardens and storytelling elements, the park includes a bilingual playground, a loop trail with interpretive signs, bocce ball lanes and a nature boardwalk.
At the heart of the park stands a striking sculpture carved from shell limestone by German artist Dieter Kränzlein, gifted in partnership with the City of Bietigheim-Bissingen and Friends of Overland Park Arts.
Ideas from Shawnee Mission West High School students, who participated through their Real World Learning program, helped shape the park’s interpretive signage.
