Are you ready to make a difference in your neighborhood during an emergency? Register for Overland Park’s free Community Emergency Response Team training this fall!

CERT empowers residents to help themselves and their neighbors with essential lifesaving and life-sustaining needs during disasters. First responders can be overwhelmed after a major event, so trained volunteers are crucial.

This seven-unit course requires full attendance and will meet on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon from September 2-23. All classes will take place at the Overland Park Fire Training Center, located at 12401 Hemlock Street. The training is open to anyone 18 or older and will conclude with a disaster simulation.

Participants will learn essential skills in:

  • Disaster preparedness
  • Fire suppression
  • Medical operations
  • Light search and rescue operations

Class size is limited, so don’t wait! Applications will remain open until all spots are filled. Learn more about the program and apply at opkansas.org/CERT.
