Neighborhood Indicators

The City gathers and reports neighborhood indicator data to evaluate programs and activities targeted in a specific area and to identify areas that may need additional attention or resources.

The City collects data for all active and inactive neighborhood groups and homeowner association members of the Neighborhood Executive Committee. However, staff use the data to evaluate potential programs and resources for neighborhoods within the Neighborhood Conservation Program boundaries north of 127th Street.

The neighborhood indicators include seven data sets used to monitor changes in quality-of-life factors at the neighborhood level. We refer to these data sets as risk factors. Those risk factors include:

  • median appraised value of homes
  • non-owner-occupied single-family properties
  • property maintenance violations
  • single-family and duplex crime
  • multi-family major crimes
  • measure of need (percent eligible for Free and Reduced Lunch Program)
  • low-moderate income areas
