Victim Support Services

The Overland Park Police Department’s victim specialists advocate for crime victims and their families by providing them with important information and direct services.

Victim specialists can provide assistance through the following services:

  • Informing victims of their rights.
  • Assisting with the victim compensation process.
  • Connecting victims with community resources.
  • Assisting during court hearings and investigative interviews.
  • Serving as a liaison for victims.
  • Providing temporary crisis intervention as needed.

Seek Then Speak is a web tool for survivors of sexual assault to explore options and resources, including medical care, support services and filing police reports. Seek Then Speak is available for those ages 13+ and can be translated into more than 100 languages.
