Community Development Block Grant Program

The City of Overland Park receives an annual allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development calculates CDBG amounts based on factors like population and community needs.

All CDBG projects must:

  1. Benefit low- and moderate-income persons.
  2. Prevent or eliminate slums or blight.
  3. Meet an urgent need.

The City allocates a significant portion of its CDBG funds to support improvements to City of Overland Park Parks and Recreation facilities and Public Works infrastructure in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, or to infrastructure and facilities that address ADA accessibility needs.
