Volunteer Opportunities

The city relies on the willingness of volunteers to help serve residents and visitors of Overland Park. Throughout the year, there are various volunteer opportunities; consider some of these:

Arboretum & Botanical Gardens volunteers help the gardens grow. 913-685-3604

City Boards & Commissions are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. At any given time, there may be vacancies.

Government students and Scout troops often attend City Council meetings in their quest to earn class credit and/or merit badges.

Drop Off Recycling Center relies on volunteers to help operate this popular facility. If you have a few hours, we'd love to have you help out. 913-901-6002

Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead volunteers greet visitors, garden, provide animal care and assist with activities and special events.

The Farmstead will consider Eagle Scout proposals twice a year during the months of February and August. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator for a list of project ideas or to submit your own.

Police Department volunteers provide administrative support to officers.

Citizens Police Academy is to create educated citizens on basic information regarding the police profession.
