Stay Cool, OP: Pools open May 25

Summer’s almost here, and that means it’s time to dive in!

Overland Park’s outdoor pools open for the season on Sunday, May 25, kicking off months of sun-soaked fun and cooling off in the water.

Outdoor Pools

The City operates three outdoor pools, open from noon to 7 p.m. daily:

Whether you’re cannonballing a diving board or relaxing poolside with a good book, there’s something for everyone.

Adaptive Splash

Swimmers with disabilities and their families are invited to enjoy a calmer pool environment during Adaptive Splash at Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center. Held from 9-11 a.m. on select Saturdays, Adaptive Splash offers a safe and inclusive atmosphere with fewer swimmers than during regular hours.

Lifeguards are on duty, and staff will be in the water to provide support and assistance. Admission is $8 per swimmer, and one caretaker per swimmer gets in free.

Memberships + Daily Passes

Pool memberships offer access to all three outdoor pools for the entire season and can be purchased in person at the City’s community centers.

Just dropping in for the day? Daily passes are available at each pool entrance for $8.

End of Season Schedule

Stonegate Pool and Young’s Pool will close for the season after Wednesday, Aug. 6.

Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center will remain open with reduced hours beginning Thursday, Aug. 7:

  • Monday–Friday: 4–7 p.m.
  • Saturday–Sunday: Noon–7 p.m.

Tomahawk Ridge’s last day of the season will be Monday, Sept. 1.

Splash Pads

For little ones who love to play in shallow, spray-filled fun zones, check out one of Overland Park’s three free splash pads, open May 1 through Sept. 30, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily:

Indoor Pool Access Year-Round

When summer winds down, the indoor pool at Matt Ross Community Center is open year-round for swimming, water fitness and more.
