National Work Zone Awareness Week highlights safe driving practices

To promote safe and attentive driving in work zones across the country and in our own community, the Department of Transportation designates April 21-25 as National Work Zone Awareness Week. This week aims to increase awareness about safe driving practices in work zones.

Here are three key reminders for drivers navigating construction areas:

  1. Slow down and remain attentive.
  2. Follow all construction and speed limit signs within work zones, and be aware of workers present.
  3. Keep a safe distance between vehicles and change lanes when instructed.
