Lifeguards needed for City pools to open May 28

The City of Overland Park continues to hire lifeguards for Stonegate Pool, Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center and Young’s Pool. Lifeguard positions must be staffed in order for pools to open for the season May 28. Bluejacket Pool is staffed.

In February, the Parks and Recreation Department announced that the starting pay for lifeguards increased to $15 per hour. Applicants must be 15 years of age or older and complete a training course provided by the City at the end of May.

Job responsibilities include enforcing pool rules and guarding and rescuing swimmers in distress or danger. Lifeguards enjoy continued training and support, flexible hours and earning money while spending time outdoors in a team atmosphere. Working as a lifeguard is also a great opportunity to earn first-aid and CPR certifications.

If all lifeguard positions are not filled, pools may operate with modified hours and/or pool amenities may not be available.
