Farmstead introduces sensory-friendly early admission days

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Farmstead at your own pace.

Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead offers sensory-friendly early admission days for individuals with sensory sensitivities and their families. Enjoy a calm and welcoming environment before the Farmstead officially opens.

Sensory-friendly early admission will take place from 8 to 9 a.m. on these dates:

To maintain a peaceful atmosphere, space is limited, and tickets must be purchased in advance. We kindly ask that this time be reserved for those who genuinely benefit from the sensory-friendly experience.

What to Expect:

  • Sound domes turned off for a more peaceful experience
  • Only emergency overhead announcements
  • Maps marked with quiet zones and areas that may be louder
  • Sensory kits available to check out at the entrance, courtesy of Variety KC (limited number, first come, first-served)
  • Selection of open attractions, including the General Store, Ice Cream Parlor and mining and fishing shacks
  • Goat feeding through the fence just after the goats run at 8:10 a.m.
  • Farmstead movie theater open as a quiet zone (no film playing)

We’re proud to create a space where everyone can feel comfortable and connected. Guests are welcome to stay until we close at 5 p.m. Plan your farm adventure at opkansas.org/Farmstead.
