Farmers’ Market competes in national competition

The Overland Park Farmers’ Market is in the running for the top prize at the 2022 America’s Farmers Market Celebration (AFMC).

Hosted by American Farmland Trust and the Farmers Market Coalition, the AFMC aims to help farmers markets across the country earn national recognition and local prestige. The annual competition, now in its 14th year, allows shoppers and supporters across the country to vote for their favorite market.

The top five markets in the nation with the most votes will split a $10,000 cash prize to support marketing and communication efforts and other needs. Top vote getters in each state and region will also be recognized. Voting began on June 20 and runs until September 19.

The Overland Park Farmers’ Market opened in 1982 and is currently in the midst of its 40th season. More than 70 vendors participate in the Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, offering products ranging from fresh produce, baked goods, beverages, plants and more.
