Overview Summer 2018

Overview" is the city's quarterly newsletter for residents. It includes news, things to see and do in Overland Park, valuable information for neighborhoods, recreational and environmental news.

The Overview Summer 2018 is in mailboxes now and includes information on:

  • Community Conversations, part of the Forward OP process and your chance to weigh in on Overland Park's future;
  • Public improvement projects, including street reconstruction, sidewalk replacement, and renovations at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead and Sykes-Lady Overland Park Golf Club;
  • The city's annual Youth Fishing Derby;
  • One young resident's experience on the Overland Park Teen Council;
  • Rules and regulations for celebrating Independence Day in the city;
  • How your landscaping can help support pollinators like bees;
  • Volunteers opportunities that will help keep our streams clean.

The Summer Overview also includes a list of programs and classes going on within the Parks and Recreation Departments, including:

  • Live music, cooking demos, kids' activities, and educational opportunities at the Overland Park Farmers' Market;
  • Self-defense and fitness classes, plus children's entertainment events at Matt Ross and Tomahawk Ridge Community Centers throughout the summer;
  • Live music, fishing tournaments, movie nights, safety day, and a chicken run at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead;
  • Hours, events, and membership information for the city's five outdoor pools;
  • Whirlwind in Motion, a kinetic art exhibit opening at the Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens;
  • Event space rentals, perfect for graduation parties.
