Overland Park’s five outdoor pools open May 27.
Visitors may notice a few changes for the 2018 season, including new rules for water slide safety, and different equipment at two pools.
To ride main pool slides this summer, swimmers must be 48” tall and weigh less than 300 pounds. This rule does not apply to slides in the youth pools at any of the facilities.
Swimmers may notice minor changes in the dive wells at Bluejacket Pool and Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center. One-meter “low dive” boards have replaced the three-meter “high dive” board at Bluejacket pool. A new play feature replaced both diving boards at Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center.
Safety of our pool patrons is Overland Park’s top priority, and these changes have been made out of an abundance of caution. These decisions were made after an independent review of pool facilities and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and industry safety standards, which have recently been updated.
Pools will be open noon - 8 p.m. daily, May 27 - August 12.
After local students return to school, Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center will be open Aug. 13 - Sept. 3, Monday though Friday from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., and Saturdays, Sundays, and Labor Day from noon - 8 p.m.
