Description
Experience the Arboretum like you never have before, at night! Walk the trails at night and then warm up while listening to our guest. Dr. Brice Obermeyer is a cultural anthropologist focusing on Delaware (Lenape) Tribe history. His book, Delaware Tribe in a Cherokee Nation, is about the Delaware Tribe’s efforts to preserve historic sites and repatriate ancestral Delaware remains. Three power point presentations during the evening will describe the original Delaware settlements with a unique connection to the local area, when the Delaware were forced to move from this region and relocate to the Cherokee Nation, and provide maps showing lands between the KC and Topeka areas which originally were the Delaware Tribe’s last reservation. All included with admission. No pre-registration is necessary. Fees are included with admission to the Arboretum. All ages are invited.
