Food and restaurant establishments are inspected before opening, when ownership changes or if a complaint is received.
The Community Services Division has implemented a Risk-Based Restaurant Inspection Program and each food and restaurant establishment receives a minimum of one unannounced routine inspection per year.

The city does not inspect grocery stores, schools and day care facilities; they are inspected by the state.
