Requests for Fire Truck Visits

Fire Training913-895-8400

Fire trucks are exciting, especially to young children, but they are more than an amusing toy or a photo backdrop.

The Fire Department uses its equipment, including trucks, as a reminder that practicing safe habits can prevent an injury from occurring.

Whenever the truck is brought on-site, fire staff teaches children and adults the importance of wearing a seat belt, having a fire escape plan, knowing when to dial 9-1-1 and many other safety tips.

Request Visit

If you are interested in having a fire truck come to your special event, call 913-895-8400 at least two weeks in advance (30 to 45 days is preferred, especially in the summer).

  • Trucks are not available for birthday parties, grand openings or sidewalk sales.
  • Trucks are available for block parties only if a permit is issued. (Note: Completing the special event permit does not reserve a fire truck. You must call the Fire Department at 913-895-8400 at least two weeks in advance, 30-45 days in the summer.)
  • Due to safety issues, fire trucks no longer attend parades unless it is a large municipal parade with designated viewing areas and parade routes.

Trucks do not visit preschools because it's difficult to keep young children's attention. Instead, staff will work with preschoolers in their classroom or at one of the fire stations where the environment is more controlled and comfortable.
