Bill Ebel is the City Manager. He was appointed by the Overland Park City Council on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011. He is the fifth city manager of Overland Park since its incorporation as a first class city on May 20, 1960.
Bill was appointed from his position as Director of Planning & Development Services. Prior to that, he served at Deputy Director/City Engineer in the Public Works Department.
Before his career with Overland Park, Bill retired from the United States Army after almost 22 years of service. He is a 1979 graduate of West Point and has master's degrees in Public Administration, Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Engineering.
Bill serves on several community boards and commissions including the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce, the Overland Park Economic Development Council, the St James Academy Board of Trustees, the University Of Kansas Department Of Urban Planning Advisory Board, and the University Of Missouri-Kansas City Department Of Public Affairs Advisory Board.
He and his wife, Theresa, have four children and reside in Overland Park.
