Dave White was appointed to the City Council in May 2005, elected in April 2007, and re-elected in April 2011 and 2015. He was elected to a one-year term as Council President in April, 2013.
Council Member White retired Jan. 1, 2016, as a principal in the law firm of Foland, Wickens, Eisfelder, Roper & Hofer, P.C., in Kansas City, Missouri. He continues with the firm as Of Counsel and focuses his practice on serving as a mediator and arbitrator of disputes.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation. In November 2017, KCMBF recognized White for his outstanding leadership of the Military Matters Operating Committee. In 2019, the National Conference of Bar Foundations awarded White with its Excellence Award for his support of Military Matters, which strives to fill the gap in legal services available to veterans and active duty military personnel living in the greater Kansas City Metropolitan area. He also has served on the Board of Directors for the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce, the Jackson County Law Library and serves as a volunteer Ombudsman with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
He received his B.A. in history from Pittsburg State University in 1972, followed by an M.A. in history from Kansas State University in 1973. White received his law degree in 1982 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Council Member White served 27 years in the United States Army and Army Reserve, retiring in 1999, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Prior to joining the City Council, he served for five years on the Planning Commission.
Council Member White grew up in Overland Park, graduating from Shawnee Mission West High School. He and his wife, Bev, have been residents of Overland Park for more than 40 years. They have an adult son, Rob, and are proud grandparents.
