Rick Collins was elected to the City Council in April, 2011 and re-elected in 2015. He served as Council president in 2016 and 2017.
Prior to being elected to the City Council, Collins was appointed to the Overland Park Planning Commission in 2001. He served as Chairman of the Commission in 2010 and through April, 2011, until his election. He served on the Board of Directors for the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce and as its Chairman in 2000.
He received a degree in political science and economics from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 1970, and a law degree from UMKC in 1974. He and his wife Janice have two grown sons, Tom and Tim.
