The brand essence boils down all of the things we learned throughout the branding process into one core concept:
Shape your city.
These three words are more than a tagline. They’re an open invitation. A call to action. A reminder that Overland Park isn’t just a place you live. It’s a place you help create! Whether you’re building a business, raising a family, volunteering your time or sharing new ideas, you’re shaping what this city is and what it will become — and that’s something to be proud of.
Overland Park is a place to find your people. Strike up an easy conversation in the grocery store checkout line, over lunch at work or on the pickleball court. It’s the feeling of belonging and knowing we’re part of something bigger.
Our city isn’t just growing; it’s evolving. We’re thinking ahead while mindfully focused on the present.
It’s not just a word, but a promise, of open minds, opportunities and a community where everyone can feel at home. Whether we’re helping a neighbor with the yard or volunteering our time at the Arboretum, Overland Park lives and breathes “midwest nice.”
There are endless opportunities here. We’ve got top-notch schools, local mom-and-pops, and corporate headquarters, so take your pick of the possibilities. We’re not just exploring options; we’re realizing them.
It’s a place you want to come back to. Want to check out the Farmers’ Market, new noodle place downtown or the high school football game Friday night? We’re there. We want to share Overland Park with you.
We invite you to come experience Overland Park. You just might:
Find a space for every stage of life.

Always somewhere near Metcalf.

If you’re hearing from us, it better sound like this:
The City uses three primary marks that offer differing lockups, or shapes, of the overall mark.
These lockup variations ensure flexible usage across different materials and scales.
Use of the City logo is limited to official City business. Please reach out to the Communications Division by emailing [email protected] if you have questions.
Our color palette is crafted around strong pairings and balance. Our vibrant, energetic colors and rich, dark tones help us to convey a wide range of meanings. Our broad options help to highlight diverse elements within OP, cater to different contexts or moods and create visually dynamic compositions. Green has always been a part of Overland Park. In this palette, multiple greens reflect our parklike nature and keep us connected to the OP brand over the years.
Graphic devices are an additional branded way to communicate a message. Our city map, tree, and flag are symbols that support the primary marks and are part of the larger visual language that assists in brand recognition. They help build and strengthen brand identity by adding elements that bring community pride to the brand.
Use of these devices is limited to templated files and designs produced by the Communications Division.
In Overland Park, you’re always somewhere near Metcalf – literally. Our community runs nearly the full length of Johnson County, and the shape of the city is as interesting as the people who live here. The map builds connections and encourages people who live in any corner of the city to find the road that leads home.
The flag is a rallying cry for all who call Overland Park home, whether it’s an official home, your work home or a home-away-from-home. It embodies our welcoming spirit, an open invitation to connect and belong. Like a varsity emblem, it signifies our local pride and the feeling of belonging to something truly special. It’s a symbol of the effortless connection we find here, a reminder that we’re all part of the same team.
Our tree graphic symbolizes the endless possibilities that grow and thrive in Overland Park, much like the diverse canopy of our city. Overland Park proclaimed the Red Oak our city’s official tree in 1990. It’s a point of pride, reflecting our long-standing dedication to our parks and our identity as a Tree City USA. Wear it as a badge of honor, a symbol of your appreciation for the natural beauty that defines our community.
