Dave Janson was appointed to the City Council in December 2003, and was elected to a full term in April 2005 and re-elected in April 2009. Janson has served as Council President.

Janson has an accounting degree from Pittsburg State University and has done graduate work in finance at the University of Texas. He is currently retired from Sprint Corp.

Janson served as president of the original Neighborhood Conservation Program, which provided the blueprint for the program that exists today.

Dave is a Vietnam era veteran, having served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973. Councilmember Janson serves as a board member of the Downtown Overland Park Partnership and was City Council President during the 2010 term.

Dave is married to Michele, and they have lived in Overland Park since 1986.
