adopt a garden at the arboretum
The Arboretum is looking for local businesses who would like to "Adopt A Garden."
The "Adopt A Garden" program is designed to bring together employees who want to volunteer a few hours of their time during business hours to help maintain specific gardens at the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
Not only does the FREE program offer a unique team building experience where employees can learn, bond and grow together, but it offers them the chance to create something meaningful, beautiful and enduring for the community.
Volunteers do not need prior knowledge, only a desire to learn
Gardening tasks may include bed preparation, planting of annual flowers or bulbs, mulching, weeding and deadheading as plants finish blooming (Garden design is the sole responsibility of the Arboretum).
How Adopt A Garden Works
- The program duration is mid-March through October.
- A list of available gardens will be provided to a participating company along with the requirements needed for its maintenance (ie. Number of people and number of hours per week).
- The participating company will select the day and time of the week they wish to volunteer.
- The Arboretum will supply volunteers with tools, buckets and gloves.
- Training and direction will be provided by Arboretum staff.
Recognition
- Each participating company will have an engraved marker in the garden they maintain. The marker will say “Garden maintained by employees of XXX Company.”
- Each volunteer will receive an Arboretum T-shirt.
