Rotary Children's Discovery Garden

In this delightful garden feature, young visitors can climb to the top of the Sky Watch, a spiraling walkway lined with unusual plants, and visit the inhabitants of the frog pond. Other features include:

A little boy gets lost in the maze in the Children's Discovery GardenA preschool area - Designed for the smaller visitor, this vine-covered tunnel leads to an area full of natural construction materials where preschoolers can create whatever they might imagine.

Grass maze - Get lost in our "child" size grass maze. This area changes with the seasons. In the spring, as the grasses are growing, children can jump from path to path. In the summer, the tall green grass blows with the wind. In the fall, the maze is surrounded by oranges and yellows, and in the winter, the light brown grasses can be covered with snow.

Story Tree and Puppet Theater - Enjoy a game of checkers while sitting in the shade of the Story tree. Become the owner of a fruit and vegetable stand or create your own theater production at the Puppet Theatre.

Frog pond - Always a favorite of young visitors are the turtles and frogs that make their homes among the pond. The ecological diversity in this small area is amazing, and there is always someone to spy on - frogs, turtles, snakes, dragonflies and lizards, to name a few.

Pebble beach - A small beach allows access to a shallow area at the east side of the pond. From this vantage point, visitors can get a closer look at plants and animals.

A frog pops out of the pond to say helloSkywatch - The focal point of the garden. A spiral walkway winds around the giant mound leading visitors to the summit where a spectacular view awaits.

Sunflower Maze - Look for a field of yellow in late August through September. Even after the sunflowers have bloomed, enjoy the myriad birds enjoying the seeds

Winter Wood - From the Sunflower Maze, enter the Winter Wood. Theyews planted here will grow into an informal maze where hide and seek is sure to be a popular game. Their evergreen foliage also will provide a snowy forest for winter exploration.

Council ring - Its grassy slopes make it a unique gathering point for Scouts or other groups.
