Method of Selection:
Preliminary selections are made from (preferably) electronic files submitted
on disk in a jpg format only, limit 500kb image size or 2"x2" 35mm
mounted color slides. For the juried exhibition, the juror has complete
discretion over the selection of works featured and awards given. All other
exhibitions are selected by a committee of artists and philanthropists from
the Friends of the
Overland Park Arts.
Mail the completed application (.pdf file), disks or slides, fees and a self addressed, stamped envelope for disk or slide return to:

Eligibility for Entry:
Artists residing in the continental United States are eligible to submit
entries for consideration. Entries will be accepted in the media of
painting, pastel, mixed media, fine art, printmaking, woodcuts,
photography, textiles and drawing.
- All work must be original.
- Commercial duplications will not be accepted.
- Work executed under classroom supervision will not be accepted.
Entry Fees and Conditions:
Checks should be payable
to the City of Overland Park. Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express
are accepted. Members of the Friends
of Overland Park Arts receive a $5 discount on their
total entry fees. Fees are not refundable. Slides or disks of accepted work
will become the property of the city but will be returned at
the conclusion of the show if a self-addressed, stamped envelope is
included. Completed entry form and fees must accompany images.
Each image submitted must be labeled with:
- Artist's last name
- Title of the art
- On slides: Indicate the top of the slide with a "T" and the right of the slide with a "R"
Sales and Recognition:
All work submitted must be for sale. A 25 percent
commission applies to help defray exhibition expenses. All accounts
will be settled within 30 days of the conclusion of the exhibition.
Prices of art are not subject to change once registration is submitted.
* All work also is displayed on the City of Overland Park's virtual Web site gallery.
Conditions of Delivery:
Acceptance at the image judging stage does not necessarily guarantee
inclusion in the exhibition. Should any piece of art differ significantly
from the original image/slide entry, the piece will be disqualified from
the
exhibition. Shipped work disqualified from the exhibition will be
returned at the artist's expense.
Artwork must be received completely assembled, framed and ready to hang. Any piece that is inappropriately presented, matted or framed will be disqualified.
- Strip framing is specifically forbidden.
- Unframed stretched canvas only if edges are painted.
- Framed art must weigh no more than 50 pounds.
- Non-glare or non-reflective glass is recommended.
- Hanging wire must be at least 100# weight (#3 wire).
- Saw-tooth hanging brackets are not acceptable.
- When appropriate, works should be covered or fixed.
Detailed delivery and shipping instructions will be sent with art selection notification. The artist will be notified if the art arrives damaged.
Liability:
All possible care will be taken of the work submitted to the exhibition.
However, the City of Overland
Park will not assume liability for loss or damage associated with shipping.
The city does insure the exhibition against loss and damage. The artist has 10 days to submit a written claim and three bids
for repair. Claims will not be considered on pre-existing conditions.
Unless otherwise stated, the city assumes permission to photograph selected artwork and/or reproduce slide images for publicity purposes. All guidelines governing the exhibition are subject to interpretation by city agents. Submission of work and your signature on the entry form indicate acceptance of all conditions listed in the prospectus for all exhibitions.
