Funds Allocated
According to past city surveys, Overland Park residents want the city to place emphasis over the next two years on management of traffic flow and maintenance of city streets.
The $34.5 million tax that is expected to be generated would provide funds for continued improvement and replacement of residential neighborhood streets to include:
- Construction,
- Curb replacement,
- New sidewalks and
- Street light upgrades
It also will continue to fund a thoroughfare street improvement program, which will widen thoroughfares and enhance traffic management systems and traffic flow on these main corridors in the city.
Each program would receive as nearly as possible one-half of the projected $34.5 million in revenue expected to be generated by the tax.
