This 2008 Capital Improvements Program project will upgrade Antioch Road to a standard four-lane divided thoroughfare.
Improvements include curbs and gutters, medians, sidewalks, bike and pedestrian trails, storm drainage improvements, turning lanes, street lighting, and a traffic signal at 159th Street.
The City Council approved the public improvement of Antioch Road in September 2007.
Due to the construction of three schools and area development, daily traffic has quadrupled in the area since 1998. This $18 million project will enhance safety, increase efficiency, and allow for future traffic demands.
The design of this project was completed by Affinis Corporation. O'Donnell & Sons Construction was awarded the contract.
Construction is underway. 159th Street is closed east of Antioch through September, 2008, and west of Antioch through November 2008.
Construction is expected to last through the end of 2009.
