Michael Santos was the Police Legal Advisor for the Overland Park Police Department from 1987 to 2000. During that time, he received national prominence in the police representation specialty and rose to the position of parliamentarian to the most prestigious police organization in the country, the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

During his tenure as Police Legal Advisor, he brought to the Department a sense of balance and an unending respect for the rights of all persons.

He steadfastly pursued policies and procedures, which guarantee the individual rights of all, including those inside and outside the police department. He was an advocate of the principle of individual respect and he was insistent that all of those around him conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner.

For his unwavering resolve and his dedication to issues of justice, Mike Santos leaves a “Legacy of Excellence”.
