The Overland Park Fire Department has been serving the
residents of Overland Park for more than 75 years.
Fire department personnel serve the public from five fire stations, one administration building and one training facility.
The department employs more than 100 firefighters and officers, who are divided between three 24-hour shifts.

Each firefighter has, at a
minimum, Kansas certification as a Firefighter I and Emergency Medical
Technician. In addition, many of our firefighters are also state certified
Paramedics.

Many of our officers and firefighters also hold college degrees. In addition, most of our officers and firefighters have specialized training in a variety of areas, such as water rescue, trench rescue, high angle rescue, confined space rescue and hazardous materials mitigation. These special teams are all fully equipped with what they need to carry out their job and stand ready to step in when called.
