This is a week-long overnight camp. Participants sleep on cots in a
building on the Fire Training Center campus:

The Overland Park Fire Training Center is used for all aspects of training
for the Fire Department.
This location has all necessary amenities for Camp Inferno, including classrooms, a multi-purpose room, a serving kitchen, restrooms/showers, and the training tower.
The training tower is a five-story concrete building used to perform various search and rescue techniques.
Cost and Transportation
- Cadets need to secure their own transportation to the Overland Park Fire
Training Center.
- Beyond the $25 application fee, Camp Inferno is held at no cost to the cadets.
- Cadets will participate in two "field trips:" one on Monday to the Ironwoods Challenge Course in Leawood and another on Wednesday to the Overland Park fire stations for laundry and dinner.
Food
Cadets are fed three meals a day. Water and snacks also are provided throughout the day.
Clothing and needs for week
- Cadets will need to bring:
- Sleeping bag
- Pillow
- Athletic shoes for running and aerobic activity
- Medications (if any)
- 1-2 towels
- Toiletries (feminine hygiene, deodorant, shampoo, etc.)
- 2 T-shirts with no lettering or markings
- 1 pair denim jeans or navy pants for graduation (no holes, designs or lettering)
- Sweatshirt
- Navy blue or black sweatpants for rappelling
- 3-4 pairs of athletic socks
- Sleepwear - shorts or sweats and T-shirt
- Hair bands or accessories to tie back long hair (for
safety)
- Other non-mandatory items you may want to bring
- Knee pads (for crawling on hard surfaces)
- Disposable camera(s)
- Personal journal
- Baseball cap
- Shower shoes
- Some cash (soda machines, some t-shirts and hats are available for sale)
- Sunglasses
- Athletic type headbands
- 3 shorts and 3 T-shirts will be provided.
- Laundry will be done once during the week.
- Cadets will have daily access to shower facilities.
Please mark your belongings with a permanent laundry marker or identification tags.
