Overland Park will attract regional and national attention in the fall of 2009 with its new soccer facility.
The new park at 135th and Switzer will accommodate local youth soccer teams as well as local, regional and national tournaments.
The new facility will include:
- 12 tournament-quality fields;
- Lighted fields for night use;
- Seating for spectators on the championship field;
- A multi-purpose building with concession areas;
- Scoreboards, signage and other amenities; and
- New parking spaces for soccer and the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead.

The skate park, three tennis courts and the basketball court will be relocated and reconstructed within Community Park. The two existing east youth baseball fields with be retained.
Funding
The preliminary cost estimate is $35 million. Funding will come from the transient guest tax, special Parks and Recreation funds and user fees.
No increase in property taxes and/or golf fees is part of the funding plan.
