Overland Park's Skate Park

Skaters at park Community Park
138th & Switzer

The skate park, the first on its kind in Overland Park, includes features to test all skill levels of skate boarders and inline skaters.

SkateboarderThe project is the culmination of the efforts of local youth and adult skaters who saw a need for a facility to develop and enjoy their skating skills. An Overland Park Resource Officer started the ball rolling in November of 1997. She helped organize the youth of her school and brought in concerned parents, adults, and city staff to bring this skate park to fruition.

An attractive feature to Community Park, the skate park utilizes many ramps, jumps, and rails to test all skill levels. The project cost about $240,000. Additionally, the landscaping was coordinated by one of the committee members as part of his Eagle Scout Project.
