The outdoor pools open May 25.

Aquatics Hotline: 913/895-5158

Outdoor Pools:

A seventh outdoor pool, Highland View, will open in the summer of 2009 next to the library at 151st and England.

Special events:

Pool Memberships:

Memberships are available during the swimming season.

For those without memberships, the pools require cash payment. They do not accept checks, debit cards or credit cards for daily pool admittance or concessions.

Pool Rules and Regulations

Baby pools:

All children under the age of 6 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult 12 years or older at all times. Those who do not have a season membership must buy an admission ticket. Swim diapers are required to be worn at all times for children that are not bathroom trained. A swimsuit must be worn over swim diapers.

Main pools:

For safety reasons, the city will allow a Coast Guard approved life vest to be worn by children 7 and younger or those with a disability. It must have a readable Coast Guard rated label, and the guardian must stay within one arm's reach of the child with the life vest on at all times. The city does have a limited quatity of Coast Guard approved life vests at each pool that may be used for free. Water wings, foam filled suits, and other such flotation devices are not allowed. Only soft, flexible diving sticks and balls are allowed in the pool.

Lap lanes:

Upon request, a lap lane will be provided at pools from 5:30 to
8 p.m. (except Stonegate). Tomahawk Ridge and Young's have 25 meter lap lanes available during the operating hours of the facility.

Waves Swim and Dive Teams:

This is a recreational team for the child who desires to increase his or her overall swimming and diving performance through hard work and practice.

Pool closing due to inclement weather:

Under periods of unseasonably cool or rainy weather conditions, the Aquatics Supervisor may choose to close certain pools. On days when the weather conditions are such that very few patrons would be expected to attend, Bluejacket, Young's and TRAC will be the last to close in the order listed. If in doubt, call the pool.

Persons with disabilities

The City of Overland Park will make every attempt to accommodate persons with disabilities. Wheelchairs and other such equipment needed to aid persons with a disability are allowed inside the pool. Staff shall provide assistance as required.
