Overland Park is planning to build a seventh outdoor swimming pool in Highland View Park, which is next to
the library at 151st and England.

Features will include:

• 10,000 square feet of water
• 30 foot vortex pool
• Two diving boards (3 meter and 1 meter)
• Two 25 feet high water slides
  • One straight drop slide
  • One spiral slide with approximately 150 feet of twists and turns
• Play/spray features in the leisure pool
• Youth pool with slide and play/spray features
• Heated water
• 25 meter lap lane
• More than 60 feet of zero depth area
• Shade/relaxation space
• Spray park master planned for future expansion
• A main building with pool offices, a concession stand, locker rooms and family changing space
• 200 parking spaces
• Extensive landscaping to shield the west neighborhood and 151st Street

Construction of the pool has been delayed.

The City Council is expected to discuss rescheduling construction of the pool during the 2010-2014 Capital Improvements Program development in the fall and winter of 2008/2009.
